Arnaldo Trabucco: From Generations of Doctors

Arnaldo Trabucco, MD, FACS is a urologist who trained at some of the finest medical institutions in the world, and practiced medicine in the United States for twenty-eight years, before relocating to Italy in late 2013 and setting up his practice there. He received his medical training at the Columbia University Medical School, where he graduated with honors, and the University of Rome School of Medicine and Surgery in Italy, where he also graduated with honors.

Arnaldo Trabucco, MD, FACS was born to be a medical man. “I come from generations of doctors in our family since the 1600’s, all originating in Italy,” he says with pride. “We have all made major contributions to medicine in some capacity.”

Arnaldo Trabucco, MD, FACS is the inventor of the Trabucco double balloon ureteral catheter, which was used in conjunction with extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy. He presented the Trabucco double balloon ureteral catheter in Egypt at the World congress of Endourology in 1988. The product was used as a form of treatment for ureteral stones in conjunction with extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy with a success rate greater than ninety-five percent.

Arnaldo Trabucco’s father, Dr. Ermanno Trabucco, was a pioneer in the field of ambulatory medicine, his son recalls. “He was also the first surgeon to perform a hernia in a doctor’s office over fifty years ago under local anesthesia. I took over the practice from my father and extrapolated these concepts to the urological arena, and have made many contributions to pioneer outpatient surgical procedures in my own personal private practice.”

Just like his ancestors, Arnaldo Trabucco, MD, FACS has devoted his entire life to helping and healing his patients.
